Traditional Macedonian handmade Kemane also known as Gusla Gadulka and Rebeck is made from walnut wood with one string.
This instrument is very rare in Macedonia,
and
is played in north-east parts of Macedonia.
Kemane is characterized by specific, universal
structure and physiognomy.
The tone of the Kemane is obtained by gliding the strings with the bow, made of flexible forked willow twig.
It has a bow shape and is tied with horse hair, waxed with rosin.
On each playing session it is recommended to rub the strings with rosin, for producing more quality sound.
